On voting

I just wanted to take a break from all of my important … not posting … *shifty* to implore all US citizens to become both more aware and involved in the election process. Elections are one of our most important rights. Without freedom to vote, all our other freedoms can be stripped away from us one at a time without any recourse. Our soldiers- past and present- aren’t just securing freedom of speech, of religion, or to bear arms, but also the right to vote. To have a say in how our country is run.

If you don’t vote, you have no voice. If you have no voice, you lose the right to complain if you don’t like how things are run.

But Ginny, you say, I’m an uninformed voter. Isn’t it better that I cast no vote than the wrong vote? Well, I’d like to tell you there’s no wrong vote, but I’m not going to lie to you. (I also respect your right to vote to much to tell you what vote I think is wrong. See how much I love you?)

I will, however, tell you that it is 2015. You no longer have an excuse to be an un- or under- informed voter. Go out and search the candidates voting history. See where they really stand on issues, and not just where their TV spots claim they stand. See for yourself if they’re willing to put their money where their mouth is. And for the love of God, please do not just base your vote on mainstream media. (They tend to ignore candidates, for various reasons. And those ignored candidates are usually the better candidates)

Not willing to do the homework? Well that’s okay too. Take this little quiz that will match your stance on the issues important with you to a candidate. It might surprise you. And if you don’t believe it, well at least you’ve got a jumping off point for your research.

I thank you for your time, and I’ll thank you even more when you vote.

Hugs and kisses,
Ginny
