Hey there blog, me again.
(I know, I know. Two posts in a row. I spoil you…)
So when I write reviews, I always end up humming a song in my head. Because I want my reviews to be more like Zero Punctuation, I guess. Who can really say now, and it isn’t even the point.
The point is, I can’t decide what song to use for Gotham Academy.
Do I go with the obvious: Punk Rock Academy by Atom and his Package, because the story is set in an Academy.
Do I pick something to set the mood: Somebody’s Watching me by Rockwell, because there’s something watching our main character. A ghost, or something more sinister? (muwhahahaha)
Should I select something that speaks to the trouble of young love: Hopelessly Devoted To You by Olivia Newton John. And I wouldn’t, but it would speak to the emotional turmoil between the main character and her ex. Sort of. In a gender swapped kind of way.
Or do I just spend hours worrying over the perfect song as a way to avoid writing the actual review?
Yes. That one.
(In the interest of full disclosure, I wrote the review while listening to Short Change Hero by the Heavy. Why? Because the thing that stuck with me the most about Gotham Academy is the dark and depressing sense that heroes aren’t always heroes, and the bad guys aren’t always as evil as you think they are.)
